Prototype CNC Machining in China
Prototype CNC machining is the fastest way to hold a production-quality version of your design. Where 3D printing gives you a shape, CNC machining gives you the actual part: cut from the same 6061 or 7075 aluminium, 304 or 316L stainless, titanium, brass, PEEK, or acetal that the finished product will use, with the same tolerances, thread forms, and surface finishes. That means a machined prototype can be bolted into a real assembly, load-tested, heat-cycled, anodised, and shown to a customer without caveats.
OrangeSea CNC runs prototypes and low-volume batches on the same ISO 9001:2015 system and the same 18 CNC machining centres and 20 CNC lathes used for repeat production. There is no minimum order quantity. A typical project starts with one to five pieces for fit and function, moves to a pilot run of 10 to 50 for validation or early customers, and then into bridge production of 100 to 500 pieces while tooling for casting, moulding, or forging is still being made. Because we keep the program, fixture, and inspection plan from the first prototype, each step starts without new engineering cost and each batch arrives with CMM data you can compare against the last.
Speed comes from process, not shortcuts. Every upload is reviewed for manufacturability by an engineer before the quote is sent within 24 hours, so thin walls, inaccessible pockets, and unnecessary tight tolerances are flagged while they are still cheap to change. Parts are then typically machined and inspected in 5 to 10 days. For customers comparing rapid prototyping in China against a local shop, the landed price is usually lower even with express freight, and we quote EXW, FOB, or DDP so the comparison is straightforward.
Confidentiality matters more on prototypes than anywhere else, because the part is often the product before it exists. All projects are handled under NDA by default, and we are happy to sign your own agreement before you send a single file. Since 2013 we have shipped prototype and low-volume work from Shenzhen to customers in more than 40 countries, many of whom started with a single part and now order production from us every month.

CNC prototyping vs 3D printing
Both have a place. Printing is the right choice for a first look at shape and ergonomics, or for lattice and internal geometry that no cutter can reach. CNC machining is the right choice as soon as the part has to carry load, seal, hold a bearing, take a thread, survive heat, or be anodised. It is also the only option that produces a prototype whose material certificate matches the production part, which is why regulated aerospace and medical programmes move to machined prototypes early. Many customers print on day one, machine on day ten, and go to bridge production with us on day thirty.
